Two previously unpublished personal sketchbooks by Jean Giraud Mœbius brought together in a single 244-page book.
For Moebius, walking around with a sketchbook in his pocket at all times was a habit and working method. These two sketchbooks, created between 1996 and 1999, collect his graphic musings.
He threw in the seeds of his future albums--such as the first pages of Le Chasseur Déprime--as well as spontaneous concepts, poems, and observational drawings: family moments, friendly encounters, or specific places: Paris, Montrouge, Los Angeles, Boston, Mexico City, or New York...
With Lézards Rêveurs, these mental snapshots project us directly into another world, opening up a more intimate glimpse into Moebius's life and his dreamlike wanderings.

"Lézards Rêveurs" translates literally into "Dreaming Lizards", but in French, the title is a play on words. In French, “les arts” (the arts) is pronounced the same as the animal: “lézard” (lizard). So, on the one hand, “Lézards rêveurs” (Dreaming Lizards) evokes the image of reptiles sitting quietly, letting their thoughts wander, their musings roam... On the other hand, “Les arts rêveurs” (The Dreaming Arts) refers to the different types of art and all the ideas they can inspire.
