“On a rainy day, the cat sat in front of the window and looked up at the sky. Dark clouds seemed to be swallowing the sky. The cat was scared, thinking that he would never see the blue sky again. The cat hid under the blanket. And soon he fell asleep...”

The artist explains: "A few years ago, there was a time when my heart was filled with dark clouds. At that time, I wrote a note in my notebook. It was a story about a cat who was afraid of dark clouds. When I was vaguely afraid, I didn’t know what to do with my broken heart, so I wrote to console my heart. It wasn’t a story about finding an answer from the beginning. It was just a story in the process. Sometimes, when dark clouds came, I thought of cats. And finally, I drew those friends on paper."

Eunji Ryu is an illustrator and the owner of Ghost Books, as well as a personal label called Little Room. She is interested in stories about nature and likes to draw them on paper. Her books she has drawn and created include Rhythm and Drawing (2021) and Eunji’s Daily Cartoon (2020).
